Public EMPL Hearing on "Demographic Change in Europe"

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Thank you very much for your interest in the EMPL hearing on the challenges of demographic change, which took place on 23 September 2025 in the European Parliament.

Attached you will find the speeches delivered by MEP Niels Geuking as well as the international experts David Harris and Dominic Richardson, which led to a lively and insightful discussion on the Euro-Family Contract as a political response to demographic challenges.

As a next step, we would like to draw your attention to the presentation of the “Euro-Family Pact” at the Intergroup on Demography on 27 November 2025 in Strasbourg.

In addition, we have requested that the upcoming legislative own-initiative (INL) report, “An EU Demographic Strategy: A New EU Large Family Card and Incentives for All Generations to Thrive in Society,” be taken up as the next key topic in the EMPL Committee from November onwards (legislative initiative procedure).
